My thoughts on this story has zero to do with the writing. I enjoyed the writing style in both books greatly. But...
I could not get into this. I was wanting to wash my eyes out after reading Ruined, but this...this book made it so much worse for me. I just could not get past the whole relationship of the two of them.

This is the POV of 'Angel' and although the author says this could be read first, I would not recommend it. Ruined draws out the reveal of Angel - thus hooking you into the story until you are at the point of no return. By reading this first you get to know who Angel is from page one.

I can do kidnap romance, I can do d-bag turned nice guy...I can even do whips and chains without an ounce of sweet. I could not get past this one at all. I felt more grossed out after this book than when I did when I read Ruined. I must go shower now.

Ruining Angel eBook Shelly Pratt Emily Dawson Reviews

'I want her, need her, and I know that nothing, not even my parents, will get in the way of taking what I deem to be mine.
The complexity of our relationship still gnaws at some insidious part of my brain and won't let go. I try to ignore it when these thoughts come knocking. They are not conducive to our relationship and I know from experience that ultimately my heart will win out - right or wrong.'

SQUEEE, That. Was. AMAZING!! Cannot get enough of Angel. I absolutely loved Ruined, so when this book popped up on my Goodreads updates I promptly one-clicked it, reread Ruined & then dove into Ruining Angel. I didn't think it was possible, but this story made me love & appreciate Ruined even more.

'When we come together I feel closer to her than I can ever imagine being with anyone. I'm sure it is because I love and feel so much for her - that and the fact I have seen so much of her life. I really understand who she is as a person and know what makes her happy, what makes her cry. Knowing a person so intimately opens up our relationship to love each other on a whole other level.'

If you haven't read Ruined yet, I recommend you do so before reading this one because...
1) some things will just not make sense to you if you read them out of order.
2) reading this first will ruin the shocking reveal that takes place in the first book.
3) Ruined was just that awesome. You really have to experience it to appreciate the full affect of these books.

'She is my world - my everything. It's here I know with every fiber of my being, that I would roll over and die for this woman if it meant that she could just take one extra breath. As night drifts past us and morning kisses the bottom of the skies, I know that what we have is the start of something real. Something that I can hold on to for the rest of my life. Bailey has, and always will, hold my heart in her hands.'

In this Novella we get to experience parts of Ruined in Angel's POV. This really helps you understand his actions better. Being in his head brings to light exactly what he was thinking when he kept pushing Bailey away & it also shows how hard doing it was for him along with his struggle to accept their relationship as anything but wrong. But not only that we get a glimpse into his past, which makes you see why his family is so important to him & explains his reluctance to cause a rift between him and his parents. As a bonus, we also get to spend some time with him & Bailey after the wedding. I only wish the book was longer, there are still some issues left unresolved for me. You don't really get to see if anyone comes to terms with their relationship. Then again, I don't think I would ever get enough of this story no matter how long it was (I also wouldn't have complained if there was more steam Lol). In the end, I'm still exceptionally happy with the way Angel's story was told. Sexy & heartbreaking but so incredibly sweet too, I just loved it & am extremely reluctant to say good-bye. READ. THESE. BOOKS ;)

'Do I still feel guilty about our relationship? F*** yeah! But I'm not gonna let it run my life. I'm going to live it exactly the way I want to, which of course includes Bailey.'
So I had just finished reading Ruined, and I have to say it I was in a state of shock it had a twist that I never saw coming, and it blew me away. After reading the epilogue, which I loved, I was left with more question that answers. So when I read that S. Pratt had written a novella from Angel's point of view that was available to 1-click I need I had to read it, and I had to read it now.

Angel was such a mystery in the first book, I liked him, but he did annoy me with some of his actions, but now after reading his point of view, I feel I have a much better understanding of who he is as you really get to discover what he is thinking and his feelings by the end I loved him.

"Every day I just wanted more. I realize I may have to be careful not to scare her off with the intensity of what I'm feeling" ~ Angel

I loved being in his head; you discover his awful early childhood, his love for Bailey, and how deep it was. Why he made the choices that he did. The pain he goes through when he leaves and tries to stay away from her, and my heart melted for him when I read this part.

"I'm sorry Bailey; it's for the best". Without giving her another chance to break down my walls, I make the biggest mistake of my life. I leave. ~ Angel

"I find myself increasingly unable to stay away from her, despite my best intentions to try and let her live a normal life"~ Angel

I really enjoyed this novella. I will remind you it's not your typical love story, but it was sweet, steamy and emotional. I loved that as the time frame for Ruining Angel is before, during and after Ruined has ended I didn't feel I was rereading the same plot, there were so many new elements that really added to this story.

I'm really pleased that S. Pratt wrote this novella, as overall I think it worked better on its own instead of being part of the original story. By the end I felt my questions had been answered, I was happy and dare I say it I still liked Bailey. My only complaint I wish it could have been longer.

If you have read Ruined and enjoy it then I highly recommend that you read Ruining Angel you won't be disappointed. I do disagree with S. Pratt I personally don't believe this book can be read before Ruined, I really suggest that you have to read Ruined first to get the whole experience.

Ruining Angel get 4 stars from me.

A couple more quotes,

This woman was definitely worth all of it. Every single bit of heartache, pain, tears, despair, and sorrow, because the good parts far out-weigh the bad " ~ Angel

I've learned a lot. Never give up, always have hope. When you feel in your gut that you need to do something, f***ing do it. Even if it doesn't make sense, do it" ~ Angel
