Hedge of Thorns

We read this book to our children when they were young. It is one of those excellent devotional classics from the 19th century. It has a clear message to stay on the narrow road and how God in His providence hedges us in, as it were, with a hedge of thorns to keep us from sinning.

This is an important read for Christian parents to read to their children. And re-read. My daughter, who is presently 34 years of age, has again attempted to break through the hedge of thorns in her life to her everlasting shame and regret and to the grief of her parents. We can only pray that she will recover from the error of her ways and return to the love of her Father in heaven and her family on earth.
What a wonderful story! It is so rich in its use of scripture. The main lesson to take away is that God gives us the right path to choose. When we wander, there are consequences. God gives us commandments because of His great love. This is a wonderful short story to read to young ones when they are still open to Biblical truths, and to re-read to young adults who are just having their first taste of freedom. A wonderful reminder for young and old, and a great conversation starter. Just excellent. I wish there were more of these old classics for those who will listen today.

This book has well-needed truths for children and grownups alike given in a somewhat different format than most. The reason it only receives 4 stars is because I thought the language was a little unfamiliar for children. The use of Scripture throughout was a good feature.
This was an awesome story, whether it turned out to be true or not. Many Lessons of Life, and Lessons from God.
We all want to break free, but the thorns were created for a reason, to protect us in life. God knows what he is doing!
A Great Book for the young, and a great reminder for the older!
I love this book. This is a great piece of literature for children to hear. It has a real great message about how we are faced with temptation all the time and that there are consequences for our choices that we must face. My son loves when I read him this book.
