Not all the books in this Sullivan series are charming, tell a satisfying story, or have well-developed and engaging characters; BUT this one is one of the best...so far, as I read them in order. Vicki and Ryan were high school friends; however, we learn that each had a crush on the other back then. Now they are 30-ish adults with careers, past romances in their lives, and one failed marriage on the part of Vicki. The romantic spark is still there; and while Ryan is the typical Sullivan alpha-male, Vicki is accomplished as a sculptor also. This is a well-balanced couple with successes in their own fields that complement one another more than any of the previous couples, except maybe for Marcus and Nicole. Their unique characters shine in this charming story of second chances that lead to love.

As usual though, Ryan, as hero. is among the mega-wealthy, while Vicki is the heroine who needs to be saved from her own misconceptions and poor choices, even if her thinking is rational and patently mature. She is not seeking a fairy tale romance as much as Ryan is. The Sullivan family members acquit themselves well, as they usually do, except for Lori who is getting to be obnoxious with her comments and insensitivity in nearly every novel. I found myself thinking, "Who cares?" to some of her quips. She does not know when silence or a gesture does more to convey support than a statement blurted out in haste. While their Mom is the soul of acceptance, tact, and welcoming love, some of the Sullivan partners sound like impertinent high school sophomores in the girls' locker room!!

I would like to see one or more Sullivan family stories where both the hero/heroine work together to achieve success, as it is in most relationships that are real, supportive, and loving. Until we see some novels like that from Bella Andre, we can soothe ourselves with this charming story. where we find ourselves cheering on Ryan and Vicki from page 1. Enjoy, I sure did.

Let Me Be The One The Sullivans Book 6 edition by Bella Andre Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

As teenagers, Vicki saved Ryan's life. He told her if she ever needed him, he would be there for her, no questions asked. They were close friends for the brief time Vicki lived near Ryan. Flash forward to adults. Ryan is a professional baseball player in the MLB as a pitcher. Vicki is a sculptor close to making it huge. Vicki becomes nervous when one of the judges of a competition she enters comes on to her and she texts Ryan for help. He drops everything and runs to her aid, posing as her loving boyfriend. He convinces her to move in with him until her competition is over. She has always had a crush on him, and he has always had a crush on her, despite not seeing each other for years and both being in other relationships over time. Things heat up, but Vicki feels uncomfortable with the change in their relationship and does not wish to ruin their close friendship.
Once again, we get to see the Sullivan family interact, which I love. We see the laid-back and easygoing Ryan struggle with his feelings for Vicki and we find out he is way deeper than we saw in previous books. I loved how this book is a friends to lovers to more story! Each Sullivan book is different in the approach for HEA. My only critique (as a HUGE baseball fan) is the team name. Ryan plays for a non-existent MLB team in real life. San Francisco has the Giants. I wondered if the author couldn't use the proper team due to MLB rules, but she references a game against the St Louis Cardinals, so I'm not sure. Otherwise, loved this book!
As stated before in my review of Bella Andre's "Sullivan series" every book is laid out exactly the same. Reading 9 books with the same layout left me a bit bored (that's why only 4 stars, but I was interested to see who the siblings chose as life partners. What made it more interesting for me was that most of the locals are where I live and are very familiar to me. The only thing that changes are the two major players. That said, it is still a very good series with smooth consistent writing and good plots despite the sameness. The Sullivan's are a CA tight knit family consisting of five brothers and twin girls who are all fa nominally successful. The Matriarch, Mary has raised most of the family by herself after her beloved husband, Jack, dies. I read books 1-9 in the series.

Each book is based on one of the San Francisco Sullivans romance. Each book could stand alone, but it would be remiss, not to read them all as they tie together beautifully. In book 6 we hear Ryan's romance with childhood friend Vciki. Ryan is a star baseball player and Vicki has newly arrived in town after a dismal divorce. The two meet again after many years and sparks fly!
The Alpha Sullivan Males Chase, the world class photographer; Marcus the oldest, a Nappa Valley Vintner; Gabe, the San Francisco fire fighter; Zach the auto racing/mechanic mogul; Ryan the professional baseball star; Smith, the gorgeous movie star. The Sullivan women Sophie the San Francisco librarian; Lori, the world class dancer/choreographer; Mary their mother and the former model; Jack the Patriarch and advertising executive.

I read all nine of the San Francisco Sullivan books in order, but somehow I felt that Mary's story was the most poignant I guess because the reader knows from the first of the series that Jacks life is cut short. Of the siblings Lori's story is the most fun. There is something intriguing about it taking place in the rural one horse, but lovely town, of Pescadero, CA, just over the mountains from the millions of people in Silicon Valley that appeals to my need to escape to the serenity it evokes. Chase's story on the other hand just maybe the sexiest in the series.
